The AI Wedding Image That Went… Slightly Off the Rails
The other day, I was looking for an image of a stressed-out bride for a blog post. Not the “floating-through-a-field-of-wildflowers” type of bride — more like “three tabs open, budget spreadsheet open, and crying over napkin colors” bride.
So naturally, I turned to AI.
I asked it for: “A bride overwhelmed by wedding planning.”And what did it give me?
A bride in full wedding dress and veil, head in hands, papers all over the table… and five sandwiches casually scattered across the desk.
Why?Not a clue.AI apparently thought the missing piece in wedding planning chaos was ham and cheese.
That kind of AI mistake? Easy to spot. We laugh. We move on.
But when it comes to actual wedding planning… the dangerous AI mistakes are the ones that don’t look like mistakes at all.
Why AI Wedding Planning Matters
AI doesn’t always give you sandwich-level weirdness.Instead, it gives you answers that sound smart — but are quietly very, very wrong.
Here are some real examples I’ve seen:
An AI wedding timeline that forgets to include “getting dressed.”
A $30,000 wedding budget that lists florals at $500… for 150 guests.
“Top Michigan photographers” — two weren’t real businesses, one retired in 2014, and one photographs squirrels. Professionally.
And here’s the hardest part:
Most couples don’t even know something is off — because you’ve never planned a wedding before. You don’t know what you don’t know.Which makes it really easy to trust AI, because it sounds confident… even when it’s confidently wrong.
Why I Still Love AI (When It’s Used the Right Way)
I use AI every day for this podcast, planning workflows, inspiration, and outlines. It really can save time and stress — if you know how to use it well.
So in this post, I’m going to walk you through:
The best ways to use AI for wedding planning
The mistakes to avoid (because they can get messy… or expensive)💡 How to get better AI answers by asking smarter questions

Before You Use AI for Wedding Planning… You Need Two Things
Most bad AI advice starts because people skip the two most important steps in planning:
1.Your Wedding Priorities (Top 3–5 Things You Care About Most)
Ask yourself:
What matters most to us? (Photography? Good food? Keeping it small? Amazing dance floor?)
What isn’t a priority? (No videographer? Don’t care about flowers? Not into favors?)
What kind of vibe do we want for ourselves and our guests?
2.Your Big-Picture Budget Number
Not a spreadsheet. Just a real number.
Who’s contributing?
How much approximately?
What’s the total we’re comfortable spending?
Without these two things, AI will gladly plan you a $100,000 Tuscany wedding when your budget is $25,000 and your venue is in suburban Michigan.

Smart Ways to Use AI Wedding Planning Tools
1. Wording & Wording Help (Total Game-Changer)
AI is amazing for anything that needs words:
Wedding website “How We Met” section
Vows (especially themed — travel, humor, faith, etc.)
Invitation wording
Rehearsal dinner toasts, speeches, thank-you notes
Example prompt:“Help me write a fun and engaging 'How We Met' story for our wedding website. Here are the details…”
2. Wedding Style & Inspiration (Without Falling Into a Pinterest Hole)
Ask AI for descriptions, ideas, or starting points:
“What are trending wedding color palettes for 2026?”
“Suggest modern garden wedding ideas that don’t feel rustic.”
“Create three mood board-style descriptions for a candlelit boho-modern wedding.”
3. Budget & Checklists — Great as a Starting Point Only
Examples:
“Help me create a wedding budget for 120 guests with a budget of $30,000 in Michigan.”
“Give me a 12-month wedding planning checklist, planning mostly on weekends.”But remember—this is step one, not the final answer.
4. Vendor Communication Prep
Not finding vendors — but knowing how to talk to them.
Questions to ask on venue tours
What to ask a photographer before signing
Email templates to ask about availability or pricing
5. Personal & Fun Details
This is where AI shines:
Signature cocktails (bonus if they include your dog’s name)
Reception playlists (Taylor Swift + 90s, no line dances)
Unique guest book ideas
Eco-friendly wedding ideas
What You Should Not Use AI for While Wedding Planning
These are the areas where AI is more likely to lead you off track:
🚫 Don’t Use AI For | Why |
Wedding day timeline | Too many variables — hair & makeup, travel, photographer schedule |
Final budget decisions | AI doesn’t know your local pricing, taxes, or vendor contracts |
Finding vendors | AI often lists businesses that don’t exist or aren't local (weird, but true!) |
Venue rules or legal info | Contracts, capacity rules, insurance… AI guesses, and that’s risky |
Emotional conversations with family | AI can write wording—but it doesn’t know your relationships |
So… What’s the Right Way to Use AI for Wedding Planning?
AI is amazing for ideas, wording, structure, and inspiration. But real wedding planning still needs a human filter — someone who knows what actually works.
